THE EMIRATES TEAM NEW ZEALAND WIN THE 36TH AMERICA’S CUP

The 36th Edition of the prestigious and internationally renowned sport event “America’s Cup” has been won by the Emirates Team New Zealand, entering in the history books by winning this competition for the fourth time. This teams was also crowned the winner in 1995, 2000 and 2017.
During the final races, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli fought until the last competition and the team showed great talent and experience. The decisive moment took place during day 7, when the Emirates Tea New Zealand scored the 7th point, the last point they needed to bring the trophy home and raise the excitement and joy of the thousands of spectators.
Commenting on the victory, Peter Burling thanked the supporters of the New Zealand team: “We have been getting messages from the Prime Minister to high school kids. It just means the world to us as a team. We have been learning all week, and today we really showed what this boat can do, and so to win on home waters is something our entire team is incredibly proud of.”
Even though it has not ended in the best of all ways, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli is proud of the whole team and of their overall performance and competitive spirit. The helmsman Francesco Bruni confirmed that the Italian team will participate in the next edition of the America’s Cup. “It is not finished – and with all this experience in the team we will try again,” he said.
The America’s Cup takes place every four years and it is considered to be the oldest international sport and the pinnacle and signature of yacht racing.
Even though this year has been complicated all over the globe, due to this pandemic situation, New Zealand has applied all covid-19 preventions and restrictions. In fact, many travel restrictions have been maintained, making it impossible for foreign visitors to come and watch the races. However, the 2021 event still saw over 1,300 spectator yachts out on the water watching the action.
According to America’s Cup tradition, the winner “Emirates Team New Zealand” will write the racing rules for the 37th edition of the America’s Cup. The next edition will once again take place in the winning’s tam homeland of New Zealand.
