As part of “Planetary Health Week”, taking place from 22nd to 27th September 2020 by Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the Yacht Club maintained its yachting dedicated program entitled: “Monaco – Capital of Yachting Experience”.

During the day of September 22nd, numerous yachting entities discussed various types of topics, from the spread of the Covid-19 virus and the types of sanitary requirements that have to be taken on board, to the performance of yacht sales during this sanitary crisis.

Yachting sustainability was the main topic handled in the afternoon session. With the intervention of Marisa Drew, Chief Sustainability Officer and Global Head Sustainability Strategy, there has been the SEA Index official launch, being the first benchmark for yachting in terms of environmental performance.

The last part of the conference, with the honoured presence of Prince Albert II, focused on the use of hydrogen as an alternative to meet the energy needs of yachts and super-yachts. The theme of sustainability is highly significant for the Principality of Monaco, as it goes hand in hand with its vision of energy transition.

During this period of great social and economic uncertainty leading to the cancellation of all boat shows, it is highly appreciated to participate to these kind of networking events. Re-starting to organize and participate to conferences is important for a social viewpoint, but also for the Principality of Monaco itself.
