Project ALTEA hits the water!

The launch of this new construction project, built by the internationally renowned Dutch shipyard Heesen Yachts, took place at the facility in Oss on February 19. This new builtconsists of a 50-metre fast displacement aluminium yacht.

Sistership to the 49.8-metre HOME, Project ALTEA is based on the same “Nova Plusexterior design and engineering platforms developed by Omega Architects.

With a gross tonnage below 500 and thanks to her shallow draft of just 2.15 meters, she is capable of cruising in the most remote and difficult locations, making her the optimal vessel for extreme cruising and exploration.

Her contemporary exterior design is the result of the expertise of Omega Architects, conducted by Frank Laupman. The outdoor profile of ALTEA is characterised by a long waterline and floor-to-ceiling windows, giving her a distinctive look.

Project ALTEA is, up to now, one of the fastest and most economical motor yachts in her class thanks to her two MTU 12V 2000 M72 main engines of 1,080kW each, which make her reach a top speed of 19.5 knots and a range of 3,750 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots.

In comparison to her motor yacht twin HOME, Project ALTEA possesses a series of technological evolvements see by the use of the latest twin MTU 12V 2000 diesel engines and Cristiano Gatto’s different interior design. Whereas Home had a fairly minimalist, stark interior, Project ALTEA creates a relaxing atmosphere, with light- and neutral-colored tones, abundant use of wood veneers, and plenty of light streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows.

Her interior space transmits a tranquil and warm ambience, inviting guests to relax in total privacy on board. Six cabins comfortably accommodate twelve guests in an interior space of nearly 350 square meters.

Stained Canaletto and American walnut are the main veneers used for both flooring and walls. Textured leathers and custom carpets by Luxury Pride deliver a tactile experience and add a third dimension to the opulent interior design.

Cristiano Gatto and his team have created bespoke and personalised soft furnishings, adding a sense of elegance, comfort and exclusivity. The main materials used are silk and velvet, paired with fine details and leather trims to create a charming and unconventional contrast.

Project ALTEA will leave the shipyard for intensive tests in the North Sea at the beginning of May and will therefore be available for delivery in Spring 2021.
