During this interview conducted by “SuperYacht 24”, the experienced Italian captain Bozza Costa relives all the special moments he experienced aboard the yacht EL LEON traveling the world for three years despite the lockdown and pandemic.

Paolo Bozzo Costa, at the helm of the 54-meter Mangusta superyacht EL LEON, has just finished his first cruise around the world which lasted from 2018 to 2022, during which the period of pandemic and lockdown affected us. A long itinerary has been put together by the captain, taking into consideration the travel restrictions, the whether forecast, the conditions of the sea and the most unique destination to visit. It has been the first time for a Mangusta Gran Sport 54m series to make a transatlantic cruise. The yacht has been built by the Viareggio Overmarine shipyard, delivered to an Italian owner in 2018.

From Italy (Viareggio) the cruise crossed the Atlantic Ocean, continued to the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal it reached the west coast of America and then continued on to Alaska and then returned to the south crossing the Pacific Ocean, finally arriving in Australia. Southeast Asia. Bali, Thailand, Maldives and Indonesia were some of the stops on this long journey that ended with the crossing of the Gulf of Aden and then the Suez Canal to return to the Mediterranean.

In the interview to captain Paolo Bozza Costa, he explains how he managed to plan the world cruise and how long it took him to have everything under control. Thanks to his passion for the sea and for his job, he spent six months outlining the cruise and learning about the best destinations to visit and in what way to reach them. Of course, during the cruise, there has been some problems due to rough sea, pirate invasions and pandemic restrictions. However, all has been surpassed with efficiency and know-how.

This story is an example of how passion, motivation and hard work can make you become successful. Part of captain Bozzo Costa’s success has been the satisfaction of the Owner on board, as well as the professionalism of his crew and the beautiful team work they managed to deliver to face the Covid period.

Captain Paolo Bozzo Costa is also member of the Italian Yacht Masters association.
